According to the Government Accountability Office, the United States government is losing billions in tax revenues each year as a result of employees being incorrectly classified as independent contractors. Many think that this lost revenue is the driving force behind a wave of federal legislation that will discourage employers from classifying employees as independent contractors. It's important for employers to stay up-to-date on this pending legislation, and to start taking proactive steps to prepare.
